TOMORROW IS ONLY ANOTHER DAY a poem by gennepher

TOMORROW IS ONLY ANOTHER DAY
by gennepher

Waiting
for mists to clear
echoes whispering
tomorrow
is only another day.
Meanwhile
the nightingale
sings.
I look
for your hooded eyes
this distance
between
us.
Kites
flying above
the church on the hill.
On the coping stone
of the ancient bridge
I peel back moss
covering
our initials.
The dog's ears prick up
one, two, three, four, five
ravens fly past...
Love...
I travelled the road
in this lifetime
peeling back moss
covering our initials.
This paved path
of gravestones
underfoot
I take care
to mind the cracks.
"I'll always
be here" you said,
I look at the clouds
this distance
between us.

Her black cloak
flowing in the wind
unseen
beneath the hood
her eyes gaze out to sea.
